Future Build 2025 Opens With Energy
The show at the Excel London has come a long way since a disparate group of rag tag mercenaries teamed up, no hang on, that's wrong.
The Future Build is no longer the vigilante show in a gang of construction conferences.
The range of guests on the seminar program, from big hitters like Smith Mordak from the UKGBC, Miatta Fahnbulleh MP and the incorrigible duo of Rachel Owens and Sara Edmonds from the National Retrofit Hub means we start the year with optimism.
There is hope.
With some questions about whether the UK is able to capitalise on the momentum of the growing sea change in public opinion, project managers have been asking themselves;
- Do we have capacity for the next project?
- Is there the personnel?
- How do we fund it?
And it would seem, many of these answers could be found on the trade floor at the Excel.
Innovation UK
The National Home Decarbonisation Group, fronted by Innovate UK held the Big Retrofit Challenge ahead of this Future Build. Calling upon innovators, with the call to action to:
"Discover not only new products but also innovative systems, processes, and approaches that transform how homes are retrofitted and renovated for a greener future."
They were deluged with over 200 entries according to Mike Pitts, the Lead with the challenge.

ThermaCote
Other highlights on the first day included the small stand being run by the team from ThermaCote. This spray on thermal insulating solution is well used in Europe but for some reason has not crossed the choppy waters of the channel, until now. The team on the stand have been swamped with enquiries, we let them describe what ThermaCote does;
